The Truth about Diet and Weight Loss

I want to talk tonight about weight loss. It's a subject everyone is worried about. And the problem is that diets don't work. Everybody has tried a diet. I haven't met a person yet that's hasn't tried something, from kids to people in their eighties; everybody has tried some kind of diet and they just don't work. In recent studies when they looked at a lot of their major diets (some good one's, Atkins, The Zone), they put them all together statistically and found a ten pound weight loss on average. Now, these people lost a hundred pounds and gained it back of course. But, all that work, all that money, all those videos, for ten pounds of weight loss?

So the truth is, we have to find a life style that will allow you to stay at a weight that is healthy for you. That's a much different way of thinking than all this crash dieting that goes on. What you have to learn is how to take care of yourself; you have to learn the appropriate foods; you have to make better choices. That's the only way it's going to work.

people are just looking for an easy way out & other people are taking advantage of that & creating bogus diet ideas that these desperate people will waist their money on these bogus ideas, weight loss is obvious but there is no easy way out, stop sugary drinks, drink water & greed tea & skim milk, eat more vegitables & all breads should be wheat, also walk or do some sort of cardio, cut out junk food & don’t over eat

  2. Bekll Says:

Everyone has tried a diet? I highly doubt it, for the very fact that *I* have never tried a diet. The farthest I got to the idea of dieting is eating a lot of Special K cereal, but not really because of its promise for weight loss but because I was obsessed with the taste that it seemed as if I was eating it for the diet but really wasn’t. I love Special K so much.

Oh and surprise surprise, no loss of lean tissue or lowering of my metabolism. Not preaching or criticising but EATSTOPEAT is the best fat loss book and website i have come across. No more obsessing over what i eat anymore and my fat is lost. Just friendly advice people. Good luck to those looking to get into shape.

  4. davey21778 Says:

Intermittent fasting plus resistence training is the best and most effective method for fat loss. EATSTOPEAT explains it best and no, i’m not a rep 4 it lol. Reason diets fail is they are too rigid.Only eat these foods, only eat at these times of the day, always eat breakfast. Thought this would be promising viewing this but its just the same as all the rest. Since when is breakfast so crucial??? As long as u fast intermittently AND weight train the fat is lost. I know from the results i’ve had.

  8. graciousSenor Says:

Your saying gain the weight back if it was a crash diet?
Well, I lost the weight about 2 years ago and I have gained some back, BUT, BUT its because I’ve started eating really bad. People say sometimes when you loose weight you gain it back? Well duh! If you revert back to your old over eating habits then yes.
But I think everybody out there that is fat, you know why your fat. Don’t go on a crash diet. Change your life! change your eating for good and change your exercise for good.
    Lifestyle.

  9. holyjumingjesus Says:

No offense but your going to gain that 40 lbs back and more.

  10. graciousSenor Says:

Just my two cents, diets do work. But I do also know what he is saying. The only reason I say diets work is because I went on one and lost weight, about 40 lbs. Don’t think about it too much and get tangled into a bunch of ideas. If you decrease your food intake and start exercising, guess what? Your gonna lose!

This doctor is right on with most of this info, but he cuts a corner when he mentioned Atkins and Zone diets together. Lots of what he mentions is parallel from Enter the Zone by Barry Sears. The Zone is a lifestyle change and far from the multitude of fad diets that are out there

  12. TonyaTko Says:

This was very inspirational and uplifting, I may incorporate some of this into my fitness competion

    Thanks for this

    Goodluck…..I lost 27pounds so far….45 more to go :D

  14. kingalexing Says:

you mentioned the zone when describing diets. I wouldnt agree. The zone “diet”, even though it calls itself a “diet”, isnt one at all. It a lifestyle, and a way you can eat for the rest of your life. I have tried every diet out there (and i mean everything) and nothing has come close to the zone at all. The truth is a diet that is high or low in anything is bad (w/in reason) which is why the zone has seperated itself from everyother scam out there

i thought starving my self will help me lose it i guess not …. thanks alot
