Cellulite Treatments for a Perfect Body
February 12th, 2009Women suffer from cellulite more than men with over 90 percent of females having cellulite at some point in their lives. This is because of the higher fat content that women have when compared to men. Often people believe that cellulite is caused by being overweight but this is not necessarily the case with many thin women suffering from the condition.
The media often makes many women feel that are abnormal if they have cellulite. But this if far from the case. Many famous celebrities and models suffer from cellulite except it is well covered by makeup and special affects.
While cellulite is considered to be a skin condition, the cause is found just beneath the skin where there is a thin layer of fat. When these pockets of fat begin to bulge the skin starts to dimple. This layer of fat is difficult to remove and special treatments are required in order to do a decent job at reducing the pockets.
While cellulite is mostly seen in the thighs, hips and buttocks it can also be found in other areas of the body like the back, stomach and even the neck. The occurrence of this condition is often related to the genes that you have inherited. This is why slender women can still suffer from cellulite even if they don’t have much excess fat.
However, factors such as smoking, being overweight and alcohol can increase someone’s chances of having cellulite. Other factors that affect the condition is the estrogen that is found in contraception pills, a slow metabolism, not drinking enough water, caffeine and spicy foods, medications, stress and a lack of exercise.
As women age there risk of developing cellulite increases dramatically. This is because the skin begins to lose the collagen and the honeycomb like structure that hold the fat begin to lose strength causing the fat to bulge outwards.
The first step in fighting back against cellulite is to change your life. Drink plenty of water, exercise and consume more fruit and vegetables. Eliminate the bad foods such as coffee, chocolate and those high in fats.
It is important that when you start to exercise that you use both the cardio equipment and weights. Toning your muscles will help to set a solid foundation for the fat beneath the skin and stretch the skin to reduce the appearance of those dimples.
Other cellulite treatments can combine with diet and exercise to help you reduce the appearance of the condition. Many people have had wonderful results with such treatments as creams, laser, lotions, radio waves and wraps. Research these treatments fully to make sure you choose the correct treatment to reduce your cellulite.
