What You Need To Know About Marketing Actions & Performance

Monday, January 5th, 2009

by Yasmine Tan

Any communication, regardless of the medium, initiated for the purpose of advertising availability or quality of any property, goods, or services, but such term does not include a communication (A) to any person with that person's prior express invitation or permission, (B) to any person with whom the party has an established business relationship.

The benchmark is a standard or point of reference and in terms of measuring marketing performance, benchmarks are crucial. Benchmarking is the better marketing measurement campaign that aims to use measurement to prove the link between marketing and profit. In the case of education, measurement techniques can be used to prove the link between marketing and student recruitment, external income generation, or whatever the marketing activity has set out to achieve.

However, the task of measuring marketing performance is not an easy one marketing activities take place at a number of different levels, operational, tactical and strategic. In the case of the latter the effects are longer term and less easy to monitor. Proving the link between marketing and profit is not the only reason for measuring marketing performance. If you do not know how effective different activities or initiatives have been then it is not possible to make improvements and ultimately increase value for money with regard to marketing expenditure and deployment of resources.

The task for marketers is to consider how can we measure the effectiveness of what we are doing? The starting point of any measurement has to be establishing a benchmark. From my experience of working within education marketing, increasing numbers of marketers are investigating marketing performance at a tactical level by measuring the effectiveness of specific and discrete campaigns using response mechanisms built into the promotion or admissions procedures. It is important to establish the baseline at the start what would have been achieved without the activity? In the case of introducing new techniques for an annual campaign, the benchmark will be the level of enquiries and/or numbers of students enrolled in the previous year(s).

However, in evaluating effectiveness, other aspects which may impact upon changes in response must also be noted and taken into account. Other marketers are starting to look more broadly at the range of activities that impact on success in terms of student recruitment. A strategic approach to portfolio management, enquiry management systems, improved relationship marketing and better targeting of marketing activities can result in reductions in the numbers of course failures, increasing share of applications, improved conversion, reduced spend in Clearing, achievement of target numbers and reductions in drop-outs.

The difficulty comes in proving the links. Crucial to this is the auditing of current activities and performance levels. The institution needs to be clear on how it is currently performing, and this needs to be built up from school/department level as activities and performance will probably differ. This will determine the current position from which to evaluate future performance.

SAP, and the contribution to SMEs business

Monday, January 5th, 2009

by Dave Torres

Back in the day when computers were infants, an engineer or IT tech (depending on which term more thoroughly describes the daunting challenge) was tasked with the logistics of juggling hundreds, at times thousands of computer systems all at once. All of these systems needed to be managed, well-kept, and looked after. And data coming from 2 different systems had to be matched, researched and applied to the collective data in a way that made sense. It was a tedious task to say the least, and expensive.

While organisations in the early 1970`s gladly chose for this bound mess of computer systems over old-fashioned hand written notes; they no doubt cared for a best way. In 1972, a savior was born in the tiny German town of Walldorf, that would anoint the industry with a solution.

SAP or Systems, Applications, Products in Data Processing, created a revolutionary system called SAP R/2 in 1979, just 7 years after the organization began processes. This system was the introductory scalable solution to enterprise management that integrated core capabilities into a single system. The launch was a success and was the impetus for a revision dubbed SAP R/3, only over a decade after, in 1992. It too, was a great success.

At Present having been on the market for numerous 29 years, you would assume that it would have penetrated all of the major markets; and it has, exclude when you reckon that India and China were far from major yet only a few years ago. Industrialization has passed the torch of wealth to numerous seemingly unpredicted nations and made new markets along the way.

China`s rise to wealth though, may not be so unexpected; considering that for the past 30 yrs, 80% of each consumer commodities came from this country. India, on the other hand has been just a blip on the map of global trade; up to now. Walk down any big city, and you will in all probability find out a product made in India. The largest steel maker in the universe, Arcelor-Mittal, is a native Indian. Don`t leave that most outsourced jobs end up in India, not to mention that numerous of the biggest corporations in the world, have satellite offices in here. This large inundation of wealth comes from plain supply and demand; cost drives require and India can acquire volume on the cheap.

All this new found wealth brings with it the prospect for chance. Within that framework, entrepreneurs will reach to set out businesses. And every last 1 of these businesses will become interdependent on the need to handle information in effect. This realization has led the aforementioned corporation, SAP, to open it's own satellite office to manage the big requirement.

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

by John Cook

Many individuals when they 1st see those set of letters wonder the identical affair. SAP R/3 actually is the previous name of the organisation planning software which is produced by SAP AG based in Germany. The current name of this software is now SAP ERP.

The very original version of the SAP organisation software comprised of a financial Accounting type of program acknowledged as R/1. The combining of the three letters comprising of S-A-P was in the end replaced with the R/2 at the close of 1970. SAP R/2 was software produced for a mainframe computer system and commonly worked on systems such as the IBM S-390 Enterprise mainframe computer. This software package proved to be extremely versatile and operated flawlessly during the 80 s and the early 90 s.

These software modules were peculiarly popular with the bigger European organisations which real time applications with multiple potentialities. It was not long before the successes of the first software prompt the SAP Ag Company to broaden its products and so it brought out the SAP R/3 which was in full multiple platforms capable. This innovational software operated on various platforms such as Microsoft Windows and the of all time popular UNIX systems. From 1992 onwards SAP dominated the business application market on up to 2002.

The actual beauty associated with the SAP R/3 software is that it is made to run as several modules that in effect supplied support for many of the organizational process much found in todays modern businesses. These procedures ranged from Finances and Control, Human Resources, Materials Management Branch, Sales & Distribution, as well as the Production Planning section.

All module was produced to handles only particular business minded projects still all the modules were in the end connected to each other. As an example, billing section could rpoduce an invoice which would be addressed to the accounting part and would look in those divisions accounts receivable.

Combined with the excellent multi-powered S-390 Mainframe computer this system represented the ultimate software for business management. It could effectively be cross platformed without any kind of data lose at all. In another words you could easily use the Mainframe as your fundamental working equipment and safely import different information from your individualized servers disregardless of the platform that they were utilizing.

The various SAP specified modules are programmed for coordination within certain business segments such as retail or utility uses.

Unluckily in order to utilize all of these impressive features 1 would have to pay affectionately for the associated license fees. The destination of SAP when it gets to their software growth is that they require to provide a good deal more efficient merchandise for the company than would be manageable for them to actual try to create on their own.

The structure of the SAP R/3 has been programmed by utilising the copyrighted language unremarkably noted as Advanced Business Applications Programming or plainly ABAP. This is a forth generation programing language which supplies a powerful subset of programs confident of offering complete functions for management and analyzes. Although all the modules were fabricated to do together each and every one can function unaccompanied.

Very Much could be penned on this software package still due to the several Custom configurations that could be set up it would take many pages to provide a mere scratching of the surface. To better visualize this package you should sit down with a illustration and tell them what your organisation genuinely requires in the way of organisation answers.

Find Out How To Use Woodworking Plans For Your Project

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

by Kelly Turner

If you talk to woodworkers they all have their own views on what is the right manner to do things. Like everything else, you can go and ask one question and get numerous opposite answers. One of the main inquiries a new craftman will ask is ,which is better: following plans or working from scratch? Here are some of the arguments raised for both parts of this enquiry.

To second the debate that is always easier to use woodworking plans, here are the components this is likely based on.

- For the beginner it is really the only way. The patterns hold everything they want to know to get started.

- Beginners have a challenging time imaging how they want the complete project to look.

They have a sound idea of what they desire ,but they arent able to design it out without some help.

- Plans save a lot time due to the fact that there is not as much time drained on revising the project. Its all there in the plan, you just follow the step by step directions.

-The plans can be cost savers. One, by the way they outline exactly what items you are going to want. Then you dont waste money on purchasing items you dont require. Secondly you will cut down on waste due to the fact that youre not as likely to mess up on your cuts and things like that.

That addresses the supporting arguments for why woodworking plans are best, now lets look at the arguments of why working from scratch is better instead.

- Often if you have a particular item in mind that you would like to establish, then you may not be able to find the project for it. Often when individuals are constructing something they want it to be different. You wont get that when you are using plans.

- Just because its a woodwork plan, doesnt mean that it will be understandable or easy to follow. Sometimes the plans can get quite complicated. Also you may not be educated with some of the language that is written in the design.

- What country the plans were planned in could be an issue as well. For illustration measures and material could be diverse.

- If you are an experienced woodworker or you are past the point of being a beginner then you will see that the plans will start to get boring. You may also begin to lose focus in the project is it is too elementary for you.

- One of the worst things that can materialise is they may not be right. For the novice this could be daunting. Mostly as you wont have the experience perhaps to prevent the fault before you make it, or be able to correct it once you have.

- You are able to train planning skills if you make your own woodworking plans. In the beginning there will be a bit of trial and error. Once you have passed this stage you are not likely to be a beginner so you will have a whole idea as to what your own plan involves.

- Lastly, maybe the most fundamental factor is that your own design is more individualised. Once its complete you will have the gratification of recognizing it is entirely your work from beginning to finish. Furthermore, it is one of a kind, and it is not found anyplace else in the world!
